Communications giants make huge pledges towards advancement of UK connectivity

Virgin is promising to spend £3 billion in expanding their UK Fibre Optic network in a move that is believed to connect around 4 million households to their network.

Furthermore 1,000 apprenticeships and 6,00 jobs are expected to be created by 2019.

At the end of “Project Lightning” as it is being dubbed, there is said to be around 17 million homes and businesses connected to Virgin’s UK network; one of the largest investments in the last 10 years.

Meanwhile, leading Telco super power BT is aiming to increase the amount of direct fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) connections by 2020.

£6 billion will be invested into developing Britain’s ultrafast broadband infrastructure which will benefit business parks, high streets and new housing developments.
