CHARITY GOLF DAY

Charity Golf Day Raises £11,000

For the second year running Congleton based IT Support Company Prism was headline sponsor for Franklyn Financial Management’s Charity Golf Day and Gala Dinner held at Astbury Golf Club recently. The event raised a huge £11,000 for The St. James’s Place Foundation, one of the most successful company charities in the UK which since its inception 18 years ago has raised over £17.5 million, supporting more than 1,000 charities across the UK and abroad.

This year the golf day provided a launch pad for a new Prism division, Prism IT Disposal which provides an ethical and environmentally friendly service to commercial IT equipment users. Prism’s sponsorship on the day extended to a novel form of refreshment for players on the course, with golfers greeted by Prism staff manning an ice cream van, providing cold comfort in the form of a refreshing ice cream.

Golf was followed by a Gala Dinner with entertainment from Billy Bean and live music from ‘Real Class’. Stand up bingo and raffles added to the fundraising efforts with Master of ceremonies Vince Miller hosting a Charity Auction. Prizes included a Bang & Olufsen telephone, a Valentino Handbag, Wadeson Champagne and signed Song Sheets from Rod Stewart.

Since 1999, additional money has been generated by St. James’s Place plc matching the monies raised by Partners and staff, which has boosted the Foundation’s funds. This has enabled the Foundation to give substantial support to three organisations; Teenage Cancer Trust, Hope and Homes for Children and The Children’s Trust.

Charlotte Whalley, Practice Manager from Franklyn Financial Management, a Senior Partner Practice of St.James’s Place commented “Having a well known and established company as our Main Sponsor once again for 2010 gave our event a fantastic boost. Prism’s support and input was excellent, helping to create a very professional and enjoyable experience for all of our guests. We wish them every success with the new venture Prism IT Disposal.”
