2021: A Year in Review

The recovery period from Covid-19 has propelled multiple changes in the world of business, technology, and wider society.

From the necessity for remote working technology, to the renewed emphasis on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) after COP26, 2021 has been a year to remember.

Let’s take a look at what happened in 2021.

Bouncing back from Covid-19

After the initial shock comes the recovery period.

For many businesses, this has meant a shift from majority remote working towards hybrid working – after being able to work remotely, many for the first time, there has been a significant push against the traditional 9-5 office role.

Our Prism Digital Transformation Survey reinforced this, with 57% of business leaders favouring a more hybrid working environment, with 64% finding it easy to access files and systems whilst working remotely.

The process of recovery comes with an increased investment in IT and digital solutions, as 49% of respondents stated they expected an increase over the next year.

Renewed focus on climate action

The COP26 conference put a spotlight on climate action, at a time when many businesses are considering their CSR efforts.

The annual UNEP report highlighted the need for swift action, revealing that the current climate commitments put the world on track for a 2.7°C rise by the end of the century – a 55% reduction of emissions would be necessary to meet the target of 1.5°C.

It’s never been more important to have a good CSR strategy with emphasis on environmental responsibility (you can look at our article on creating a CSR strategy to find out more).

Net-zero pledges could take 0.5°C off the predicted 2.7°C, and it is likely we will see far more businesses hoping to get involved in sustainability efforts.

As part of our own CSR efforts, we have our PETT scheme that supports charities through donated devices/equipment and foodbank donations, with the aim of helping local communities, particularly during such difficult times.

New technology

Whilst video conferencing tools and mobile telecoms aren’t new concepts, the way that we use them and expect to adapt them has.

Prism Mobile is a prime example of this change – a combined telecoms approach that includes managed billing, device assurance, and support and service, all in one package.

The days of getting each area of telecoms from different providers are gone as more businesses look for cost-effective, agile IT solutions.

Customer satisfaction reporting

Given that the way we work has changed so significantly, so too has the way in which our customers engage with our services.

This makes customer satisfaction reporting even more integral for businesses, as they inform the direction of the processes and the success of them.

We’re proud to say that we’re rated +1.65% overall above the network average for remote support, with high ratings across the board for response timeliness, professionalism, task resolution, and overall service satisfaction.

Without customer satisfaction reporting, we wouldn’t be able to continue improving our services year-on-year!

It’s been a year for change, and the developments that are continuing as a result of the pandemic will undoubtedly evolve further as we move into 2022.

We’ve had a fantastic year and hope to continue providing the best service possible for our customers.
