Our belief is that we need the right personality, but we can train you to do the rest.  A great example of that is our current Team Leader, Shaun. Shaun joined us back in 2010 and we asked Shaun to tell us about his rapid career progression at Prism.

“My career at Prism started in 2010 after completion of a BTEC course in IT at South Cheshire College and a couple of years working in the IT department of another company.  I liked the fact they were a local company and it meant I didn’t have the daily commute to the likes of Crewe or Manchester to work in the sector I really wanted to have a career in.

When I first started I was a Service Desk Engineer and I immediately liked the fun and friendly open plan atmosphere.  I could see that everyone got on, it was very sociable and there was a real caring attitude in looking after customers and each other.   Prism made sure I had all the technical training I needed, including accreditations and qualifications from Microsoft to do my job; and to this day ongoing training is still a key priority to them.”

With time Shaun realised he wanted to develop his leadership skills whilst still doing what he did best, fielding clients’ IT problems and finding solutions for them, but what could he do and how could he get there?  Through regular one to ones and a tailored personal development plan, Shaun and Prism realised the perfect role for him would be to remain in his existing team and work his way up to Service Desk Team Leader. Together they put an action plan in place for him to get there.  Shaun now holds the position of Team Leader and is successfully managing a growing team of eleven.
