Business IT Support: Data Backup

Off Site Data Protection

The data you hold and produce as a company is one of your most valuable assets and safeguarding this information in a reliable and secure way should be high on the list of priorities. Many companies do not realise the value of their data until it is too late,  and others think that they have good backups, only to find them unreliable when needed.

Taking backups of your data is essential, but ensuring that these backups are secure is equally important after all, there is little point in using securely encrypted software and computers all day, only to make a backup copy of the data onto an unencrypted CD at night.

Traditional backup methods such as tapes or CD rely upon the user changing the media regularly and taking it off site every day, not to mention the relatively high upfront costs associated with the purchase of tape drives, media and software. Some insurance companies are now stipulating off site data backup before business continuity insurance can be put in place such is the risk of traditional backup media becoming damaged.

Our data backup solutions is powered by Attix 5 software and fully endorsed by Price Waterhouse Coopers. The software securely transmits your data across the Internet each night and stores it safely in side our highly secure data centre. Should you need to retrieve your information, you can do this 24 hours a day from any computer connected to the Internet.

Go Back Facility

Unlike many other systems, our backup product will allow you to retrieve every version of a file you have backed up from the past 30 days, not just the version from the last backup, a feature that our clients say is one of the most valuable as sometimes you don’t notice that you are missing a file for several days .

Backup Vs Storage

The storage of data on the Internet or inside ‘The Cloud’  has never been more common, however online storage whilst suitable for pictures and personal documents is not the same as a remote backup solution. Factors such as the software used to transmit your data, the regularity of backups inside the cloud and indeed the trading history of the company you are entrusting to store your data should all be a consideration.
